repairer
A person whose job is to fix broken or damaged things.
A repairer is someone whose job involves fixing things that are broken or damaged. When your bicycle chain falls off or your phone screen cracks, a repairer is the person with the skills and tools to make it work properly again.
Repairers specialize in different areas. A watch repairer works with tiny gears and springs under a magnifying glass, while an auto repairer (often called a mechanic) diagnoses why your family's car won't start. Some repairers fix electronics, others mend furniture, and still others restore musical instruments or shoes.
A good repairer doesn't just patch things temporarily: they understand how objects work and can often make them function as well as they did when they were new. In earlier centuries, when fewer people could afford to replace broken items, repairers were essential members of every community. Today, though many people replace rather than repair, skilled repairers remain valuable because they can save money and extend the life of things we care about.
