reread
To read something again.
To reread something means to read it again. You might reread a confusing paragraph in your textbook to understand it better, or reread your favorite chapter in a novel because you enjoyed it so much the first time.
Rereading serves different purposes depending on why you do it. Sometimes you reread to catch details you missed, like when you go back over the instructions for a science experiment to make sure you followed every step. Other times you reread because a story or poem reveals new layers of meaning the second time through. A joke that seemed simple might become funnier when you reread it and notice a clever detail you overlooked.
People often reread. They might reread a sentence that confused them, reread their own writing to check for mistakes, or reread an important email to make sure they understood it correctly. Teachers often encourage students to reread difficult passages rather than just pushing forward.
