resource
Something useful you can use to help solve a problem.
A resource is something useful that helps you accomplish a task or solve a problem. Resources can be physical things like tools, materials, or money, or they can be less tangible, like time, knowledge, or people's skills.
Think about working on a school project: your resources might include books from the library, information from websites, art supplies, your teacher's advice, and your classmates' different talents. A carpenter's resources include wood, nails, saws, and years of experience knowing how to use them well.
The word often appears when discussing what's available and how to use it wisely. A clever student facing a tough assignment thinks about their resources: Could they ask their older sister for help? Is there a video tutorial online? Do they have enough time before the due date? Countries have natural resources like forests, minerals, and rivers that they use for energy, building, and trade.
When someone is described as resourceful, it means they're good at finding and using whatever resources are available, even in difficult situations. If you're stranded on a camping trip and figure out how to start a fire using only what's in your backpack, you're being resourceful.
