sized
Adjusted to a certain size or measured to fit something.
Sized means adjusted or made to fit a particular measurement or dimension. When you buy clothes, they come sized for different body types: small, medium, large, or by specific measurements like a size 10 shoe or a 32-inch waist. A properly sized baseball glove fits your hand comfortably, neither too tight nor too loose.
The word often appears with prefixes that describe scale. A bite-sized piece of candy is small enough to eat in one bite. A king-sized bed is extra large, much bigger than a twin bed. Pint-sized describes something or someone small, like a pint-sized point guard on a basketball team.
You'll also hear size up used differently, meaning to assess or evaluate something. A coach might size up the opposing team before a game, studying their strengths and weaknesses. When you size up a challenge, you're figuring out how difficult it might be and what approach to take.
