smartwatch
A digital watch that works like a tiny smartphone on your wrist.
A smartwatch is a small computer worn on your wrist that does much more than tell time. Like a miniature smartphone strapped to your arm, it can send messages, track your steps, monitor your heart rate, play music, and run apps. Some smartwatches can even make phone calls or pay for things at a store.
The “smart” part means it connects to other devices and the internet, letting you check notifications, get directions, or control your home's lights without pulling out your phone. Athletes use smartwatches to track their running distance and speed. Hikers use them for navigation. Students might use one to set reminders for homework deadlines.
Modern smartwatches often include sensors that measure how much you move during the day, how well you sleep at night, and can even alert you if your heart rhythm seems unusual. They're particularly useful when your hands are full: you can glance at your wrist to see who's calling or what message just arrived.
