sorted
Organized or put into groups or the right order.
Sorted means organized, arranged, or put in order. When your teacher asks you to get your desk sorted, she wants you to arrange your papers, pencils, and books so everything has its proper place. When you sort your Halloween candy, you might group all the chocolate bars together, separate the hard candies, and set aside the ones you plan to trade.
The word comes from sort, which means a particular type or category of thing. When you sort items, you're grouping them by their similarities: sorting laundry into lights and darks, sorting library books by subject, or sorting playing cards by suit. A sorter is someone who sorts things, like mail sorters at the post office who organize letters by ZIP Code.
In British English, sorted also means having everything figured out or under control. If a British student says “I'm sorted for the science fair,” they mean they've got their project planned and their materials ready. When someone says “that's sorted,” they mean the problem is solved or the arrangement is made. It's like saying “all set” or “taken care of” in American English.
