stroller
A wheeled seat used to push babies or toddlers around.
A stroller is a wheeled chair designed to push young children who are too small to walk long distances but too big to carry comfortably. Parents and caregivers use strollers to transport babies and toddlers through stores, parks, airports, or city streets.
Modern strollers fold up for storage and usually include safety straps, a canopy for shade, and storage space underneath for bags. Some strollers are lightweight and compact, while others are built like all-terrain vehicles, with large wheels for bumpy sidewalks or trails. Double strollers accommodate twins or siblings close in age.
Before strollers became common in the 1900s, parents carried babies in their arms, on their backs, or in wheeled carriages that looked more like tiny horse-drawn wagons. Today's strollers make it easier for families to take young children on errands and adventures they couldn't manage on their own two feet yet.
