student
A person who is learning, usually in a school.
A student is someone who is learning, usually in a school or from a teacher. Students attend classes, complete assignments, and work to understand new subjects like mathematics, history, science, or language arts.
Being a student means actively trying to learn and improve. A curious third-grader figuring out how caterpillars become butterflies is being a true student. So is a pianist practicing scales, or a chess player studying opening strategies.
While we usually think of students as children and teenagers in school, adults can be students too. A medical student spends years learning to become a doctor. An adult taking piano lessons is a student of music. You might hear someone say “I'm a student of history” or “a student of human nature,” meaning they're always observing and learning about that subject.
Students have different experiences with learning. Some find certain subjects easy while others are more challenging. Everyone has subjects they find interesting and others they find difficult, and that’s normal.
