swag
Free items or cool stuff given away at events.
Swag has a few different meanings you might encounter:
- Free promotional items or merchandise, often given away at events, conferences, or as part of marketing campaigns. When companies hand out T-shirts, pens, stickers, or tote bags with their logo on them, that's swag. At a school science fair, sponsors might set up tables offering swag like water bottles or pencils.
- A confident, stylish way of carrying yourself. Someone with swag walks into a room with assurance, wears clothes that express their personality, and seems comfortable being themselves. It combines self-confidence, personal style, and an easy coolness. You might notice swag in how an athlete enters the field or how a performer takes the stage.
- An ornamental garland or chain of flowers, leaves, or fabric, often hung in a curve between two points. You might see swags of greenery decorating a school gym for a dance, or fabric swags draped elegantly across windows in fancy rooms. Interior designers use swags to add softness and style to spaces.
