A sweatshirt is a soft, warm piece of clothing made from thick cotton fabric, worn on the upper body. Unlike a t-shirt, which is thin and light, a sweatshirt is designed to keep you warm and comfortable. Most sweatshirts have long sleeves and a round neckline, though some have hoods (those are called hoodies).

The inside of a sweatshirt often has a soft, fuzzy texture called fleece, which traps warm air close to your body. This makes sweatshirts much cozier than regular shirts. Some sweatshirts have a crewneck (a simple round collar), while others have a zipper up the front. When you pull on a comfortable sweatshirt on a chilly morning, you immediately feel warmer and more relaxed.
