talented
Having a natural skill or ability at something.
Talented means having natural ability or skill in something. A talented musician can play songs that sound beautiful without struggling as much as others might. A talented athlete moves with grace and power that seems to come easily.
Talent is different from just being interested in something. You might love basketball and practice constantly, but a talented player has gifts that make the game feel natural to them: quick reflexes, good hand-eye coordination, or an instinct for where to be on the court. That doesn't mean talented people don't have to work hard. Even the most talented violinist still practices for hours, but their natural gifts give them a head start.
People can be talented in countless ways. Some have a talent for math, seeing patterns others miss. Others have a talent for making friends, knowing just what to say to make someone feel welcome. Some are talented at drawing, writing stories, solving puzzles, or fixing broken things.
The tricky thing about talent is that it can hide if you never try different activities. You might be talented at chess but never know it because you've never played. Discovering your talents often means trying new things and paying attention to what feels natural and enjoyable. Talent might open a door, but hard work and persistence are what carry you through it.
