talkative
Liking to talk a lot and share many thoughts.
Talkative means someone who talks a lot, enjoys conversation, and has plenty to say. A talkative person might chat constantly during lunch, eagerly share stories, and find it hard to stay quiet even when they should.
Some people are naturally talkative: they think out loud, love social interaction, and feel energized by conversation. Others are quieter by nature, speaking less but often listening more carefully. Neither approach is better, though certain situations call for one or the other. During a fire drill, being talkative can create problems. At a party or during group projects, talkative students often help discussions flow and keep everyone engaged.
Teachers sometimes ask talkative students to give others a turn to speak, which doesn't mean talking is bad. It just means conversation works best when everyone gets a chance. The word isn't usually an insult, though calling someone too talkative suggests they might not notice when others need space to speak or when quiet concentration matters more than conversation. A related word is garrulous, which means talkative in an excessive or rambling way, though you'll hear talkative far more often.
