talker
A person who talks a lot, often more than others.
A talker is someone who talks a lot or talks in a particular way. In class, teachers might say “she's quite a talker” about a student who always has something to say, who can't seem to stay quiet during lessons, or who loves chatting with friends.
The word can be neutral or slightly negative depending on context. A smooth talker uses words cleverly to persuade others, sometimes in ways that feel a bit slippery or manipulative. When someone says “he's all talk” or “he's a big talker,” they mean the person makes grand promises or boasts about what they'll do but doesn't follow through with action.
Being a good talker isn't the same as being a big talker, though. A good talker communicates clearly and interestingly, holding people's attention with worthwhile ideas. But when someone's described simply as “a talker,” it often suggests they talk more than they should, dominating conversations or interrupting when others are trying to speak or concentrate.
