till
To do something up to a certain time.
Till is a preposition that means “until” or “up to a certain time.” When someone says “wait till tomorrow,” they mean wait until tomorrow arrives. If a store is open till 6 PM, it stays open up to that time and then closes.
The word is almost always interchangeable with “until.” You might say “I studied till midnight” or “Keep trying till you succeed.” The only small difference is that till sounds slightly more casual and conversational than until, but both mean the same thing in most situations.
Some people write 'til (with an apostrophe) thinking it's a shortened version of until, but many dictionaries consider that form less standard.
The word till can also be a verb meaning to prepare soil for planting by breaking it up and turning it over. A farmer tills the land before planting crops, using a plow or other tools to make the soil ready for seeds.
