torso
The main part of your body between neck and hips.
The torso is the central part of your body: your chest, back, and stomach. It's everything between your neck and your hips, not including your arms, legs, or head.
When you put on a shirt, you're covering your torso. When a doctor listens to your heart and lungs with a stethoscope, they're examining your torso. Your torso contains some of your body's most important organs: your heart, lungs, stomach, and liver all sit inside this protected core.
You might hear someone say they're doing torso exercises or core strengthening, which means they're working the muscles of their chest, back, and abdomen. These muscles help you stand up straight, twist, bend, and stay balanced.
