uncleared
Not yet checked, approved, or made safe to use.
Uncleared means not yet approved, resolved, or made safe to proceed. When something is uncleared, it's still waiting for permission, verification, or action before it can move forward.
In banking, an uncleared check is one that hasn't finished processing yet. When you deposit a check into your account, the money might show up right away, but it's still uncleared until the bank verifies that the person who wrote the check actually has enough money to cover it. This usually takes a few days.
In security work, uncleared personnel are people who haven't received official approval to access restricted areas or confidential information. A government contractor might need security clearance to work on classified projects. Until they complete background checks and receive approval, they remain uncleared.
The word can also describe physical spaces. An uncleared minefield is an area where explosives might still be hidden and dangerous. An uncleared trail after a storm might be blocked by fallen trees that haven't been removed.
Something uncleared is in a waiting state, stuck until someone takes action to clear it, approve it, or make it safe.
