unclutter
To remove extra stuff so a space is neat and tidy.
To unclutter means to remove unnecessary items and mess from a space to make it cleaner and more organized. When you unclutter your desk, you clear away the old papers, broken pencils, and random toys that have piled up, keeping only what you actually need and use.
Uncluttering is the active process of sorting through your belongings and deciding what stays and what goes. You might unclutter your backpack before a field trip, pulling out crumpled homework and last week's lunch bag. A family might unclutter the garage on a Saturday, finally dealing with boxes they haven't opened in years.
Uncluttering means making thoughtful choices about what to keep and what to discard: this broken toy goes in the trash, these outgrown clothes get donated, and these special art projects go in a memory box. The goal is to create a space where you can find what you need and move around freely. When your bedroom is uncluttered, you can actually see your floor and locate your favorite book without digging through piles of stuff.
