undecided
Not yet having chosen or decided about something.
Undecided means not having made up your mind yet, or not having reached a decision about something. When you're undecided about which book to read next, you're still weighing your options. When voters are undecided before an election, they haven't chosen which candidate to support.
Being undecided isn't the same as being confused or clueless. Sometimes you're undecided because you're carefully thinking through a difficult choice. Maybe you're deciding between two excellent summer camps, or considering whether to try out for the school play. Both options have appeal, so you need time to think.
The word can also describe something that hasn't been settled or determined yet. A game with an undecided outcome could go either way. A debate with an undecided result means neither side has clearly prevailed.
People often pressure you to decide quickly, but staying undecided while you gather information can be wise. However, some decisions have deadlines. If you stay undecided too long about signing up for soccer, the team might fill up without you. The skill is knowing when to keep thinking and when it's time to commit to a choice.
