Undivided means complete and whole, not split into parts or shared with anything else. When you give someone your undivided attention, you focus entirely on them without letting your mind wander or checking your phone. When a teacher asks for your undivided attention during an important lesson, she wants you fully present, not daydreaming about recess or doodling in your notebook.

The word often describes focus, loyalty, or commitment that isn't split between competing interests. A knight pledging undivided loyalty to a queen promises to serve her alone, never wavering or switching sides. When you give a puzzle your undivided effort, you concentrate completely on solving it rather than half-working on it while watching TV.

Undivided can also describe physical things that haven't been separated. An undivided cookie is still whole, while a divided cookie has been broken into pieces. A piece of undivided land hasn't been split into separate lots yet.

The key idea is wholeness: whatever is undivided remains complete, unified, and not scattered. Your best work usually happens when you bring your undivided focus to it, giving one thing your full energy instead of spreading yourself thin across many things at once.
