unequally
In a way that is not shared or treated the same.
Unequally means in a way that is not the same or not fair in distribution, treatment, or amount. When something is divided unequally, different people or groups receive different amounts. If you split a pizza unequally among four friends, someone might get three slices while another gets only one.
The word often appears when discussing fairness. Resources distributed unequally might leave some people with too much and others with too little. In a game where teams are matched unequally, one side has a clear advantage, like five experienced players competing against three beginners.
Notice that unequal doesn't always mean unfair. A teacher might unequally assign homework problems, giving struggling students easier ones and advanced students harder ones. That's unequal treatment, but it serves a fair purpose: helping each student learn at their level.
Its opposite is equally, which means in the same way or amount for everyone. When you and your sister divide chores equally, you each do the same amount of work. When the work is divided unequally, one person does more than the other.
