ungrateful
Not showing thanks or appreciation for help, gifts, or kindness.
Ungrateful means not showing or feeling appreciation for what others have done for you. When someone is ungrateful, they ignore or dismiss the kindness, help, or gifts they've received, acting as if they're owed these things or as if they don't matter.
An ungrateful child might complain that their birthday present isn't good enough, overlooking the thought and effort someone put into choosing it. An ungrateful friend might forget to say thank you when you help them with homework, or criticize how you helped instead of appreciating that you took time to assist them.
Being ungrateful isn't the same as being disappointed. You can feel disappointed by something while still appreciating the effort behind it. Being ungrateful means taking things for granted or acting entitled to them.
