unhealthiness
The state of being bad or harmful for health or wellbeing.
Unhealthiness is the state of being harmful to physical or mental wellbeing, or the condition of not being healthy. When doctors warn about the unhealthiness of eating too much sugar, they mean it can damage your body over time. A building with mold and poor ventilation suffers from unhealthiness that can make people sick.
The word describes both conditions and behaviors. Staying up until midnight every school night shows unhealthiness in your habits. A workplace where people constantly criticize each other has an unhealthiness to its culture that affects everyone's happiness and performance.
You can spot unhealthiness by looking at consequences. Does something drain energy, cause harm, or make situations worse over time? That's unhealthiness at work. A friendship where one person always feels anxious or exhausted has an unhealthiness to it, even if both people care about each other.
The opposite is healthiness, where things support growth, strength, and wellbeing. Understanding unhealthiness helps you recognize what to avoid or change.
