uninterested
Not caring about or paying attention to something.
To be uninterested means to lack interest or not care about something. When you're uninterested in a topic, it doesn't capture your attention or curiosity. If someone seems uninterested during a conversation, they might look away, give short answers, or let their mind wander.
It's easy to confuse uninterested with disinterested, but they mean different things. A student who finds a science lesson boring is uninterested. But a judge who listens fairly to both sides of an argument without favoring either one is disinterested, meaning impartial or unbiased. Being uninterested means you don't care; being disinterested means you're neutral and fair.
You might be uninterested in learning about ancient pottery but fascinated by dinosaurs. We all have different interests.
