uniqueness
The quality of being the only one of its kind.
Uniqueness is the quality of being one of a kind or unlike anything else. Your fingerprints have uniqueness because no one else in the world has prints exactly like yours. A painting has uniqueness when the artist creates something that's never been done quite that way before.
When scientists discover a new species of beetle in the rainforest, they celebrate its uniqueness: the features that make it different from every other beetle. When you write a story, your uniqueness shows in your particular way of describing things, choosing words, or imagining characters.
Sometimes people confuse uniqueness with just being different. True uniqueness means having qualities that genuinely set something apart in meaningful ways. Every snowflake has uniqueness in its crystal pattern. Every person has uniqueness in their combination of talents, experiences, and perspectives.
In mathematics and logic, uniqueness means something exists in exactly one way. A math problem might have a solution with the property of uniqueness, meaning there's only one correct answer, not several possibilities.
Your own uniqueness comes from everything that makes you yourself: your obvious features like your appearance, plus your interests, your sense of humor, how you solve problems, and what matters to you.
