Unseasoned describes food that hasn't had salt, pepper, herbs, or spices added to it. If you bite into unseasoned chicken, it tastes bland and boring, like eating plain cooked meat without any flavor to make it interesting. Cooks season food to bring out its natural flavors and make it delicious. Without seasoning, even good ingredients can taste flat and dull.
The word also describes someone who lacks experience. An unseasoned teacher in their first week of school might feel nervous and uncertain, while a veteran teacher handles classroom challenges smoothly. An unseasoned hiker attempting a difficult mountain trail might struggle with things an experienced hiker barely notices. You might hear someone say that a young athlete's mistakes show they're still unseasoned, meaning they haven't yet developed the judgment and skills that come from practice and experience.
In both cases, unseasoned means something important is missing: flavor in food, or the wisdom and confidence that come from doing something many times.
