unwillingly
In a way that you really do not want to.
Unwillingly means doing something you don't want to do, even though you're doing it. It's the opposite of willingly or voluntarily.
When you do something unwillingly, you might cooperate on the outside while resisting on the inside. Picture a student who cleans their room because their parents insist: they're doing the work, but they'd rather be playing video games. They're acting unwillingly. Or imagine being pulled unwillingly into a dance performance when you'd much prefer to stay backstage.
The word captures that feeling of going along with something while wishing you weren't. You might unwillingly admit you were wrong in an argument, meaning the admission comes out reluctantly, not freely.
Unwillingly describes the attitude behind an action, not whether the action happens. A person can complete a task successfully but still do it unwillingly. The word suggests inner resistance, hesitation, or resentment, even when outward cooperation continues.
