vehicle
A thing used to carry people or things from place to place.
A vehicle is anything that carries people or things from one place to another. Cars, trucks, buses, and motorcycles are vehicles. So are bicycles, boats, airplanes, and trains. Even a skateboard or a horse-drawn wagon counts as a vehicle.
A vehicle's job is moving someone or something. When you ride your bike to school, the bicycle is your vehicle. When an ambulance rushes someone to the hospital, it's a vehicle designed for that specific purpose.
People also use vehicle in a broader sense to mean something that helps accomplish a goal or express an idea. A teacher might say that a story is a vehicle for teaching about friendship. An artist might use sculpture as a vehicle for exploring ideas about nature. In this way, vehicle means a method or means of doing something, just like a physical vehicle is a means of getting somewhere.
The key idea is that vehicles help us move forward, whether we're traveling across town or trying to communicate something important.
