version
One form of something that can exist in different forms.
A version is one form of something that exists in multiple forms. When your teacher asks you to write a second version of your essay, she wants you to create a new form of it with improvements or changes. The first version was your initial attempt; the second might have better word choices or a clearer structure.
Software programs release new versions regularly: Version 2.0 might fix problems from Version 1.0 and add new features. Video games often get updated versions with new levels or characters. Movies sometimes have a director's cut version that differs from the theatrical version shown in cinemas.
Different people can also have different versions of the same story. If two students describe what happened at recess, each might tell their own version of events, emphasizing different details based on what they noticed or experienced. Neither version might be dishonest; they're just different perspectives on the same situation.
