About the medical care and treatment of animals.
Veterinary relates to the medical care of animals. A veterinary clinic is where sick or injured pets go to see a doctor, just like you visit a pediatrician when you're unwell.
A veterinarian (often called a vet for short) is a doctor who has spent years studying animal biology, diseases, and treatments. Vets treat everything from hamsters to horses, diagnosing illnesses, performing surgeries, giving vaccines, and helping animals stay healthy. Some vets specialize in particular animals: small animal vets work mostly with pets like dogs and cats, while large animal vets might drive out to farms to care for cows, pigs, or sheep. Equine vets focus specifically on horses, and exotic animal vets treat unusual pets like parrots, lizards, or ferrets.
Veterinary medicine requires deep knowledge because vets can't simply ask their patients where it hurts. They must observe carefully, run tests, and piece together clues. A vet examining a limping dog must figure out whether the problem is a torn muscle, a broken bone, or something else entirely, all while keeping a frightened animal calm and safe.
