wearer
A person who is wearing a piece of clothing or item.
A wearer is simply the person who wears something. If you put on a jacket, you're the wearer of that jacket. If your sister puts on a new pair of shoes, she's the wearer of those shoes.
The word appears most often when describing how something affects or fits the person using it. A hat might protect its wearer from the sun. A heavy backpack might tire its wearer after a long walk. When clothing designers create new styles, they think carefully about how comfortable the wearer will be.
You'll also see this word when people discuss how something makes the wearer feel or look. A crown doesn't just sit on someone's head: it transforms its wearer into royalty, at least in appearance. A team jersey connects its wearer to everyone else on the team. In stories, a magic ring might give special powers to its wearer, or a cursed necklace might bring bad luck to whoever wears it.
The word reminds us that clothing and accessories don't exist by themselves. They only matter because of the people who wear them, and how those items affect their wearers.
