wolverine
A fierce, strong animal from cold northern forests and mountains.
A wolverine is a powerful, stocky animal that lives in cold northern forests and mountains across Canada, Alaska, and parts of Europe and Asia. Despite being only about the size of a medium dog, wolverines are incredibly fierce and strong for their size. They have dark brown fur, sharp claws, and strong jaws that can crunch through frozen meat and bones.
Wolverines are solitary hunters and scavengers, meaning they prefer to live and hunt alone rather than in groups. They eat almost anything they can find or catch: rabbits, rodents, berries, and even the leftover remains of larger animals like caribou or moose. A wolverine can travel huge distances through deep snow, using its wide paws like snowshoes.
These animals have earned a reputation for being remarkably ferocious. A wolverine will defend its food against much larger predators like wolves or bears, snarling and fighting with surprising courage. This toughness has made the wolverine a popular mascot for sports teams and has inspired fictional characters, too.
