workroom
A room used for making, fixing, or creating things.
A workroom is a space set aside specifically for making, building, fixing, or creating things. Unlike a bedroom for sleeping or a kitchen for cooking, a workroom is where someone does focused work on projects: a seamstress might have a workroom filled with fabric, patterns, and a sewing machine; a carpenter's workroom contains tools, wood, and a sturdy workbench; an artist's workroom holds paints, canvases, and easels.
What makes a space a workroom is its purpose. The room is organized around getting work done. Everything has its place so the person working can find tools and materials quickly. A workroom might be messy during a big project, with supplies scattered around, but that mess has a purpose: it's the productive chaos of someone in the middle of creating something.
Schools often have workrooms too, where teachers prepare lessons, make copies, and organize materials away from the classroom. Some families set up workrooms in basements or garages for hobbies and projects. The key idea is having a dedicated space where you can spread out your work, leave projects in progress, and return to them without having to clean up and set up again every time.
